The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a moderate heat risk for the Portland Metro area from Sunday, June 29 through Tuesday, July 1. The hottest temperatures are expected on Monday, June 30, with less than a 5% chance to reach 100 degrees in any location.
Prolonged exposure to heat can result in heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Those experiencing houselessness, mobility challenges, the elderly, children, people with pre-existing health conditions and those taking medication that disrupts the body's natural cooling mechanisms are the most at risk.
